Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 17 of Article 26A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Supplement), title "Criminal Injuries Compensation Act," be
and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendment to
read as follows:

17.

Where any person is convicted after July 1, 1968, of any crime by
any judge, or trial magistrate, with criminal jurisdiction, there shall
be imposed as additional cost, in the case, in addition to any other
costs required to be imposed by law, the sum of five dollars ($5).
All such sums shall be paid over to the Comptroller of the State to
be deposited in the general funds of the State. Under no condition
shall a political subdivision be held liable for the payment of this sum
of five dollars ($5). Crime as used in this [subsection] section does
not include [motor vehicle violations or violations of Article 66]
violations of Articles 66½ (Motor Vehicles) or 66C (Natural Re-
sources)
of this Code.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 287
(House Bill 322)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 59-23 (g)
(1) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County
(1963 Edition and 1967 Supplement) and Section 70-27(g) (1)
of the Montgomery County Code (1965 Edition) being Articles 17
and 16, respectively, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Prince George's County," and "Montgomery County," sub-
title "Park and Planning Commission," to provide for the inclusion
of certain additional areas in the Maryland-Washington Metro-
politan District in Prince George's County, being a certain portion
of land located in the Laurel Election District (#10).

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 59-23 (g) (1) of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Prince George's County (1963 Edition and 1967 Supplement), and
Section 70-27(g) (1) of the Montgomery County Code (1965 Edi-
tion) being Articles 17 and 16, respectively, of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, titles "Prince George's County," and
"Montgomery County," subtitle "Park and Planning Commission,"
be and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

59-23. (g) 70-27. (g).

1. All of the Laurel Election District (No. 10), excepting there-
from, however, the Town of Laurel, including the area annexed on
April 1, 1968,
and [those] three areas surrounding the said Town
