The Sheriff and his deputies shall serve all process, both civil and
criminal issued by the several trial magistrates and the Circuit Court
of Dorchester County. The County Commissioners may authorize the
appointment of a jail matron.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act shall
be construed or applied to affect or change the salary of the Sheriff
of Dorchester County who is in office on the effective date of this
Act, for the remainder of the term in which he is then serving. This
Act shall take effect only as to the term of the Sheriff of Dorchester
County which begins next after the effective date of this Act.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 50
(House Bill 583)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments. Section 51(1)
of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replace-
ment Volume), title "County Commissioners," subtitle "County
Treasurers," to increase the salary of the county treasurer of
Dorchester County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 51(1) of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1966 Replacement Volume), title "County Commissioners," subtitle
"County Treasurers," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

51.

(1) The county treasurer of Dorchester County shall receive an
annual salary of [$7,500.00-3 $8,400.00.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act shall be
construed or applied to affect a change in the salary of the County
Treasurer of Dorchester County who is in office on the effective date
of this Act, for the remainder of the term in which he then is serving.
This Act shall take effect only as to the term of the County Treasurer
of Dorchester County which begins next after the effective date of
this Act.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.
