CHAPTER 682
(House Bill 693)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 707(k)
of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Re-
placement Volume), title "Natural Resources," subtitle "Oysters
and Clams," authorizing the Department of Chesapeake Bay Affairs
to close temporarily natural oyster bars in Queen Anne's County,
DORCHESTER, AND KENT COUNTIES.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 707(k) of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1967 Replacement Volume), title "Natural Resources," sub-
title "Oysters and Clams," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

707.

(k) The Department is authorized to close without the hold-
ing of a public hearing and for a temporary period not to exceed
forty-five days any natural oyster bar in Charles, St. Mary's, Queen
Anne's,
DORCHESTER, KENT or Calvert counties with the approval
of the committee of oystermen established under the provisions of
subsection (g) of this section.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby de-
clared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety and having been passed
by a yea or nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two houses of the General Assembly, the same
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 683
(House Bill 695)

AN ACT to add new Section 481A to Article 27 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement Volume), title "Crimes and
Punishments," subtitle "Crimes and Punishments," to follow im-
mediately after Section 481 thereof and to be under the new sub-
heading "Rifles and Shotguns," providing that it shall be lawful
for Maryland residents to purchase a rifle or shotgun from a
federally licensed gun dealer in an adjoining state.
