title "Trial Magistrates System," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
108.
(8) There shall be one trial magistrate who shall sit at LaPlata
and shall receive an annual salary of [$5,000.00] $6,000.00. There
shall also be one associate trial magistrate who shall be appointed in
the same manner as the trial magistrate. The associate trial magis-
trate shall receive an annual salary of [$4,000.00] $5,000.00. He
shall sit at such time and in such place as the trial magistrate may
direct, and in the temporary absence or inability of the trial magis-
trate to sit, the associate trial magistrate shall sit in the place of
said trial magistrate.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 12-1 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Frederick County (1959 Edition,
being Article 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Frederick County," subtitle "Chapter 12. Private Non-
profit Organizations," changing the amount of the county tax for
the benefit of private non-profit organizations in Frederick
County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 12-1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Frederick
County (1959 Edition, being Article 11 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Frederick County," subtitle "Chapter 12.
Private Nonprofit Organizations," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
12-1.
The county commissioners are hereby authorized, in their dis-
cretion, not mandatorily, to levy and collect a tax on all the assess-
able property in the county, in each year, a sum [not to exceed fifteen
thousand dollars,] to be determined by the County Commissioners
to be paid by the county treasurer to such private nonprofit or-
ganizations whose objectives are to promote the health, education,
public welfare and community betterment of the county, in the
respective amounts set up by the county commissioners in the annual
budget for the county.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.
