          By his Exncy the Governr & Councel &a. ffeb 29th . 1695/6

Upon Representation, Ordered that the Several Officers within this

Province, Officiating in any publick imploy within the Same and

to whome fees for doing business are properly belonging doe not

Exact or take any other fees than what by Law are Setled and

allowed to be taken and that for the future, no publick papers

be Carryed out of the Port of Annapolis, but that all business there

done be made up and finished in that place and the papers

thereof lodged in their propper Officers there hereby comanding

the Sheriffs of the Province to publish this Order in all publick

places, within their respective Counties.

Eliz. Osbourne            at a Court held at Deviding Creek ye Second

~ ~ ~ ~ ~                 Tuesday in November last past on their

Oaths doe present Elizabeth Osbourne for that the Said Elizabeth

not having the fear of God before her eyes, but moved by ye instigation

of the Devill hath Comitted ffornication & born a Basterd Child –

Contrary to the Peace & agt the form of the Act of Assembly in that

Case provided. Dent. Clk prsentmts

The Indictmt being read, to which the Said Elizabeth Confessed, &

declared that Charles ffausett was the ffather of her late Basterd

Child . Whereupon the Worll Court Ordered that Process issue agt the

Said Charles and that the sd Eliz. give good Security for her fine & fees

& to appear the next Court in June to prosecute the sd Charles &ca.

Whereupon, Came the sd Eliz Osbourne with her Security Thomas

Bromley and the sd Eliz & Thomas did aknowledge them Selves

joyntly & Severally in the Sum of two thousand pounds of tobacco a piece

to be indebted unto our Soveraign Lord the King, due to be levyed

on their goods & Chattels lands & Tennements for his Maties uses

The Condicon of which Recognizance is Such that if the above said

Eliz Osbourne, doe well & truely pay unto our sd Soveraign Lord the King

his Heirs or Successors the Sum of four hundred pounds of tobacco wth

all Officers fees, as also make her prsonal appearance at our next

County Court to be held the Second Tuesday in June next to prosecute

the abovesd Charles ffausett, that then the Recognizance to be void

& of none effect otherwayes to be & remaine in full force & Vertue.
