His Matie Contra Upon Complaint made to this Worll John Stockeley } Court agt ye Dft. It is therefore Ordered ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ that the Sheriff of this County take into his Custody the body of the Said John Stockeley & him Safe keep So yt he be & prsonally appear before the Justices of or County Court to be held at Deviding Creek the Second Tuesday in March next then and there to answer unto Such matters & things as shall be then objected agt him on behalf of our Soveraign Lord the King &ca. Cop sent David Jenckins & mr Scarbrough this day pr Recognizance did – acknowledge themselves to be indebted to our Soveraign Lord ye King (viz) the sd David in the Sum of 10£ Sterling money & the sd mr Matthew Scarbrough in ye Sum of 5£ like money, due to be levyed on their goods &ca for their Maties use &ca The Condicon of which Recognizance is Such that if the above bound David Jenckins shall make his prsonall appearance at our next County Court to be held at Deviding Creek the second tuesday in – March next to answer unto Such questions & things as shall be – required on behalf of the King &ca then the Recognizance to be void & of no effect, otherwayes to remain in full power force & Vertue

Smith & Eliz.} The Grand Jury for ye body of this County Neugen Dfts — at a Court held for the County afd on their ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Oaths, doe Present Henry Smith Planter and Elizabeth Neugen both of this County, for that they the Said Hen. & Elizabeth not haveing the fear of God before their eyes but moved by the instigation of the Divell, for a long time have — unlawfully Cohabited together Contrary to the Peace and against the Act of Assembly in that Case provided // Dent Clk prsentmts The Indictment being read & the Evidence Sworn it is ye Courts judgmt that the Dfts are guilty according to sd Indictmt. — & for want of Security for their fines to the King Corporall punishmt is awarded (viz) fifteen lashes to the sd Henry & ten to the sd Eliz on their backs well laid on, which was executed pr sheriff as pr return of ye Order &ca. // Security being required for the fees accrued – Whereupon Came Richard Tull Innholder & pr Recognizance did acknowledge him Self to be indebted to the Officers in this Court one thousand pounds of tobacco for ye paymt of ye sd Henry & Elizabeths fees accrued in the foresd prmisses &ca.

Jno Tayler Dfendt } The Grand Jury for the body of this County on ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ their Oaths doe prsent John Taylor late of this County for that he the sd John not haveing the fear of God before his eyes but moved by ye instigation of the devill, Some time on or about the 24th Day of October in the year of our Lord 1695,within the Jurisdiction of this Court in a Violent manner, did Seize the body of Elizabeth Cowin & by force, did endeavour to Comitt a Rape
