[(b)] (b-1) Every registration plate shall have displayed upon it
the registration number assigned to the vehicle for which it is issued,
[also] the name of this State, which may be abbreviated, and the
period for which it is issued or the date of expiration thereof.

The registration numerals appearing on such registration plates
assigned to such vehicles as aforesaid shall not be less than three
inches high and each stroke shall not be less than one-quarter inch
in width, except [vehicles requiring one registration plate only,]
registration plates issued to motorcycles, on which the registration
numerals shall be not less than one inch high and one-eighth of an
inch in width.

(b-2) Effective March, 1970, and thereafter, the Department shall
issue registration plates manufactured of a material or processed
material warranted to have a durability of not less than five years.

(a) A registration [plates] plate issued for a motor vehicle or

trailer [other than a motorcycle] shall be attached thereto, on in

trailer. [The registration plate issued for a motorcycle or other
vehicle required to be registered hereunder shall be
attached to the
rear thereof.]

(c) Whenever any other section of this Article refers to registra-

tion plates, that term shall mean and be restricted to a registration

plate and the manner of display as provided in subsection (a) of this

section.

34.

(A) REGISTRATION PLATES ISSUED FOR A MOTOR
VEHICLE OTHER THAN A MOTORCYCLE SHALL BE AT-
TACHED THERETO, ONE IN FRONT AND THE OTHER IN
THE REAR. THE REGISTRATION PLATE ISSUED FOR A
MOTORCYCLE OR OTHER VEHICLE REQUIRED TO BE REG-
ISTERED HEREUNDER SHALL BE ATTACHED TO THE
REAR THEREOF.

35.

(a) Effective March 1, 1970, every Class A and Class D vehicle
registration [under this Article and every registration card and
registration plate for said classes issued hereunder shall expire at
midnight on the 31st day of March of the registration year for which
issued.] plate issued under this Article shall expire at midnight on
the thirty-first day of March of each succeeding registration year
unless annual validation tab has
TABS HAVE been applied for and
issued by the Department and displayed upon such registration plate
PLATES as provided for under Section 36 (b) of this Article. [The
registration of all other classes of motor vehicles and the registra-
tion cards and plates for the same issued hereunder shall expire at
midnight on the thirtieth day of April of the registration year for
which issued.] The registration plate PLATES of all other classes
of motor vehicles or trailers shall expire on the thirtieth day of April
of each succeeding registration year unless annual validation tab has
