CHAPTER 347
(House Bill 1026)
AN ACT to add new Sections 303F to 303K, inclusive, to the Charter
and Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore City (1949 Edition,
being Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Baltimore City," to follow immediately after Section 303E
thereof and to be under the subtitle "Administrative Office of the
Supreme Bench," creating a division of court house security within
the administrative office of the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City
and relating generally to this division and to its powers, duties,
functions, operations, employees and finances.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Sections 303F to 303K, inclusive, be and they are hereby
added to the Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore City (1949
Edition, being Article IV of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land), title "Baltimore City," subtitle "Administrative Office of the
Supreme Bench," to follow immediately after Section 303E thereof,
to read as follows:
303F.
A Division of Court House Security is created within the Ad-
ministrative Office of the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City.
303G.
The Supreme Bench of Baltimore City shall appoint, as Chief
of the Court House Security Division, a qualified person who shall
serve during its pleasure and receive such compensation as shall
be approved by the Supreme Bench and is provided from time to
time in its annual operating budget. The Supreme Bench of Balti-
more City, upon the recommendation of the Chief of the Court
House Security Division, approved by the Administrator, shall ap-
point such Court Security Officers and other employees as the Su-
preme Bench from time to time shall determine to be necessary, who
shall serve at its pleasure and receive such compensation as shall
be approved by the Supreme Bench and included in its annual oper-
ating budgets.
303H.
The Chief of the Court House Security Division, in accordance
with rules and policies adopted from time to time by the Supreme
Bench and under the supervision and direction of the Administrator
of the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City shall:
(1) Recommend qualifications for Court Security Officers, pro-
cedures for their recruitment, and suitable examinations to deter-
mine their experience, skill, and ability;
(2) develop a plan for maintaining all necessary security
measures within the courtrooms, corridors, and other public facil-
ities within the Baltimore City Court House and any building util-
ized as an annex thereto;
(3) recommend the specific duties of the Court Security Officers,
including their assignments and work schedules;
