Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new subsection 1 (E) be and it is hereby added to Chapter 496
of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1966, to follow immediately
after subsection 1 (D) thereof, and to read as follows:

(E) The Board is authorized to acquire by purchase, gift, or, if
necessary, condemnation other properties located in or near the City
of Annapolis in lieu of or in addition to, and for the same general
purposes of, those enumerated in subsections (A), (B), (C), and (D)
of this section, together with any and all improvements thereon, and
to acquire any easements or other interests appurtenant thereto. The
Board is further authorized to provide for the razing of any or all of
the improvements on such properties.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1968.

AN ACT to add new Section 211 H-12 to Article 89B of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume and 1967 Sup-
plement), title "State Roads," subtitle "Expenditure of Commis-
sion's Funds and Programming and Scheduling of Highway Proj-
ects," to follow immediately after Section 211 H-11 thereof, to
provide for the inclusion of an additional road project in Prince
George's and Anne Arundel Counties in the State Roads Commis-
sion's official 20-year needs study, this project beginning at Bowie
Race Course to the Anne Arundel County line and continuing
northward parallel to the Pennsylvania Railroad right-of-way to
complete the extension of Maryland Route 170.

Projects," to follow immediately after Section 211 H-11 thereof, and
to read as follows:
211 H-12.
The official "twenty-year highway needs study" of the State Roads
Commission is hereby amended to show the need for extending
Maryland Route 170 in Anne Arundel County parallel to the Penn-
sylvania Railroad right-of-way to Bowie Race Course in Prince
George's County, the extension of which is hereby authorized and
directed to be undertaken as soon as practicable.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the imme-
