land, to determine the necessity of revising the existing boiler
laws and to report thereon to the Governor and to the Legislative
Council.
Whereas, The subject of boiler laws in the State of Maryland
should be completely studied in order that the laws may be revised
as found necessary; and
Whereas, There has been no general revision of the boiler laws
of the State of Maryland for many years although they have been
amended piecemeal from time to time, and it is now desirable that
the entire subject be restudied and that a new and modern law on
this subject be placed on the statute books; and
Whereas, For this purpose the General Assembly is requesting
the Governor to appoint a Special Study Commission on boiler laws;
now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Governor
is requested to name a commission of eleven members to serve with-
out compensation, to study and revise the existing boiler laws; and
be it further
Resolved, That to this commission the Governor be and he is hereby
requested to appoint two owners and users of boilers, two manufac-
turers of boilers, two insurers of boilers, two representatives of
labor THE PUBLIC AT LARGE, two representatives from the State
Department of Labor and Industry, and one representative from the
American Society of Mechanical Engineers; and be it further
Resolved, That this Commission when appointed be requested to
meet and organize promptly and to determine if there is need for
revising the existing boiler laws; and as part of this determination
to hear testimony and collect and study data from whatever source
available; and be it further
Resolved, That the Attorney General be requested to act as legal
advisor to this Commission and that all the several departments,
boards, and commissions of the State government be requested to
give such information and assistance as is in their power in mak-
ing this study and investigation; and be it further
Resolved, That the Commission be requested to submit its findings
and recommendations to the Governor, the Legislative Council, and
the General Assembly on or before September 1, 1968, in order
that the proposed revision may be considered by the General Assem-
bly at its 1969 session; and be it further
Resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Governor
of Maryland.
