(b)  The Deputy Chief Clerk shall give bond with corporate surety,
conditioned upon the proper performance of his duties, in such
amount as the Chief Judge shall prescribe, the provision of which
shall be paid by the county. Should the Chief Clerk be absent or
for any reason be unable to perform the functions of his office,
the Deputy Chief Clerk shall assume and discharge the duties of
that office.

(c)   The county commissioners of Anne Arundel County are
authorized and directed to annually appropriate an amount sufficient
for the proper and effective administration of the People's Court.

(d)   The Chief Clerk, the Deputy Chief Clerk, the Senior Clerks,
the Junior Clerks and all other clerks by whatever title designated
shall be empowered to administer oaths.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That if Chapter — of the
Acts of 1968 (House Bill 465) is enacted into law and becomes
effective, this Act providing for a recodification of certain laws
concerning the People's Court of Anne Arundel County from the
Code of Anne Arundel County of Maryland to the Annotated Code
of Maryland, the provisions of Section 5-911 in this Act shall be
transferred to and codified in Article 52 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland. In such event, the editor of the Annotated Code of
Maryland shall include said Section 5-911 in a proper place within
the framework provided by Chapter — of the Acts of 1968 (House
Bill 465).

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

CHAPTER 112
(Senate Bill 545)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 108 (12)
of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Justices of the Peace," subtitle "Trial Magis-
trates System," to increase the salaries of the trial magistrates of
the People's Court of Harford County, and to remove obsolete
language from Section 108 (12).

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 108 (12) of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1964 Replacement Volume), title "Justices of the Peace," sub-
title "Trial Magistrates System," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

108.

(12). There shall be five trial magistrates, one of whom shall sit
at Bel Air, who shall receive an annual salary of [five thousand
dollars ($5,000.00)] six thousand dollars ($6,000.00); one each at
