of account, rules, regulations, papers, documents of this State, of
its several departments and agencies, and of its several political
subdivisions and their departments and agencies are changed to be
references to the State Department of Social Services.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1,1968.

CHAPTER 703
(House Bill 629)
AN ACT relating to the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission,
to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 83-61, 83-85,
83-86, 83-88, 83-89, 83-90, 83-92 (b) and 83-95 of the Public Local
Laws of Prince George's County (1963 Edition), and Sections
71-9, 71-34, 71-36, 71-37, 71-38, 71-39, 71-41(b) and 71-44 of the
Montgomery County Code (1965 Edition), being Articles 17 and 16,
respectively, of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, titles
"Prince George's County" and "Montgomery County," subtitle
"Washington Suburban Sanitary District," terminating the author-
ity of the Commission to exercise its jurisdiction over storm drain-
age systems within Montgomery County, with the exception of
that portion of the City of Takoma Park lying within said county,
after June 30, 1968, AND transferring that jurisdiction to the
county with authority to continue the tax levy necessary to pay
the interest and principal on outstanding bonds theretofore issued
by the Commission, and to transfer TRANSFERRING maintenance
of such systems to the County, with an option to municipalities
to maintain their own systems.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 83-61, 83-85, 83-86, 83-88, 83-89, 83-90, 83-92(b), and
83-95 of the Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (1963
Edition), and Sections 71-9, 71-34, 71-36, 71-37, 71-38, 71-39, 71-41 (b)
and 71-44 of the Montgomery County Code (1965 Edition), being
Articles 17 and 16, respectively, of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, titles "Prince George's County" and "Montgomery
County" subtitle "Washington Suburban Sanitary District," be and
they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

As soon after organization as possible, said Commission shall
cause surveys, plans, specifications and estimates to be made for
water supply, sewerage and drainage systems in those portions of the
Sanitary District in which, in its judgment, such systems, or any of
them, are necessary, and shall divide such territory into water,
sewerage or drainage districts in such a way as shall, in its judg-
ment, best serve the needs of the various communities and shall pro-
mote convenience and economy of installation and operation [.];
