Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 37 (c) of Article
87 of the Code (1967 Supplement), title "Sheriffs," subtitle "Com-
pensation and Duties," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
37.
(c) The Sheriff of Baltimore County shall receive an annual
salary of [$12,500] $15,000. He shall appoint a chief deputy at an
annual salary of [$9,000] $10,000 and deputy sheriffs [who]
employed as of July 1, 1968, shall each receive an annual salary
of [$7,000] $8,000, and shall receive such sum for necessary expenses
as shall be authorized by the County Council of said county. He
shall also appoint a deputy sheriff's matron, who shall receive [an
annual salary of $4,500,] compensation and benefits the same as
county employees under pay scale #.8 in the county employees'
classification system and one (1) docket clerk, who shall Teach]
receive fan annual salary of $4,000.] compensation and benefits the
same as county employees under pay scale #7 in the county em-
ployees' classification system. He shall also appoint four additional
full-time deputy sheriffs after July 1, 1968, who shall each receive
an annual salary of $7,000 for their first year of employment and
shall receive a $200 annual raise thereafter until they reach the
maximum salary of $8,000. The payment of such compensation
and expenses shall be made from the general funds of Baltimore
County, in the same manner as other general county disbursements
are made. The Sheriff of Baltimore County may appoint persons to
the positions of Captain, Lieutenant and Sergeant within his office.
The Captain, the Lieutenant, and the Sergeant shall receive salaries
of $9,000; $8,750; and $8,500; respectively. FROM AND AFTER
JULY 1, 1968, THERE SHALL BE NO PART-TIME DEPUTIES
EMPLOYED IN THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this
Act shall not be construed to extend or apply to the Sheriff in office
on the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act
shall take effect with the next term of office.
Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1968.

(Senate Bill 334)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 217(d)
and SECTION 224(s) of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1964 Replacement Volume), title "Licenses," subtitle
"Real Estate Brokers," amending the laws concerning real estate
brokers in order to permit the refusal of a license to persons who
have been convicted of an act of moral turpitude, and providing
also for the suspension or revocation of a license for such
licensees.
