sioners obtain the benefit of the public views and opinions prior
to final adoption.
(c) (1) All persons who are licensed by this State as a Master
or a Journeyman Plumber, and all firms and corporations whose
officers, agents, or employees are so licensed, engaged, or' about to
engage, in the plumbing business in Calvert County are required
to register with the Board and post a bond in the amount of One
Thousand Dollars ($1,000). The bond shall be conditioned on the
faithful performance of all work contracted for by such registered
persons, firms, or corporations and to protect and save harmless all
those who employ, or who contract for the services of, such regis-
tered persons, firms, or corporations from loss or damages resulting
from the use or installation of defective materials or from work
not done in a workman-like manner. Any cause of action arising
under this section must be instituted within one year from the date
of the installation of materials or the performance of such work or
services.
(2) Any person, firm or corporation who shall practice or en-
gage in the work of a Master or Journeyman Plumber without hav-
ing complied with the provisions of this section and any person not
licensed as a Master or Journeyman Plumber, who shall do or per-
form any such work except under the directions of a Master or
Journeyman Plumber, or who shall violate any of the provisions of
this section, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction,
shall be fined not less than $25.00 nor more than $1,000.00.
[(c)] (d) The rules and regulations aforesaid shall have no
application, and the Plumbing Board shall have no authority to con-
trol, the plumbing system of any property owner who shall install
or work on his own plumbing system, except that the hooking up of
such a system to a public water system or public sewer system must
be done by a master plumber or by the owner or agent of the
owner of such sewer or water system.
[(d)] (e) The Board shall annually approve, for a fee of one
dollar, applications for established appliance dealers to make ap-
pliance installations, provided, satisfactory bond in the amount of
$1,000.00 is made to Calvert County and the work is to be done by
qualified workmen whose qualifications shall be determined by the
appliance dealer and who may or may not be Master Plumbers. No
permit shall be required for installations of appliances.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.
