CHAPTER 359
(House Bill 1030)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 248 of
Article 5 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Calvert County," subtitle "Plumbing," as added
by Chapter 785 of the Acts of 1957; revising the laws concerning
the Calvert County Plumbing Board, providing certain conditions
and qualifications for membership thereon, and authorizing the
Governor to appoint the members thereof, and dealing generally
with the authority of the Board to adopt rules and regulations
relating to the plumbing business and requiring the registration
and the posting of bonds by certain persons, firms and corporations
engaged in the plumbing business in Calvert County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 248 of Article 5 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Calvert County," subtitle "Plumb-
ing," as added by Chapter 785 of the Acts of 1957, be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

248.

(a)    There is hereby created the Calvert County Plumbing Board
which shall have the duties and powers to adopt rules and regulations
pertaining to the plumbing business in Calvert County. The Board
shall consist of three (3) members who shall be selected by the
Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate, from a list
of five (5) persons submitted by the members of the Master Plumb-
ers Association residing in Calvert County. Membership on the
Board shall be restricted to persons who are registered Master
Plumbers engaged in the plumbing business in Calvert County for at
least three (3) years preceding their appointment. Terms of mem-
bers shall be for two (2) years and members appointed to fill
vacancies occurring during any term shall hold office for the un-
expired portion of term. The members of the Board shall appoint
an Inspector of Plumbing, who shall receive such compensation as
shall be fixed from time to time by the Calvert County Plumbing
Board, which said compensation shall be paid from the fees of
applicants for certificates or permits, and shall not exceed the sum
or sums so collected. No permit fee for inspection and installation
in any dwelling house or building used for commercial purposes,
not including structures used for manufacturing purposes, shall ex-

ceed the sum of five dollars ($5.00).
THE BOARD SHALL SET ALL
FEES AND MAKE ALL REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO THE
PLUMBING BUSINESS IN CALVERT COUNTY.

(b)    The Plumbing Board shall have the authority and the duty
to create a system of rules and regulations and submit for adoption
said rules and regulations to the County Commissioners. Prior to
the adoption of said rules and regulations they shall be published
once each week for three consecutive weeks in each of the Calvert
County newspapers. The said Commissioners shall provide for a
public hearing on said rules and regulations and shall publish notice
of the day and time of said hearing with the rules and regulations
aforesaid. The purpose of the hearing is to have the Commis-
