Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That before this Act shall be-
come effective it shall first be submitted to the legally qualified voters
of the 5th Election District of Montgomery County at the General
Election to be held in November, 1968.

There shall be printed on the ballot or ballot labels, to be used in
the election, the title of this Act and underneath the title, on separate
lines, a square or box to the right of and opposite the words "For the
Sale," and a corresponding square or box to the right of and opposite
the words "Against the Sale," so that the voters of 5th Election
District of the county are able to designate his or her decision for
or against this Act. If a majority of the votes cast in the election in
the 5th Election District of the County are "For the Sale," then this
Act is effective, but if a majority of the votes cast in the 5th Election
District of the County are "Against the Sale," then this Act is null
and void.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That subject to the provisions
of Section 2, this Act shall take effect June 1, 1967.

CHAPTER 319

(House Bill 890)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (o)
(1) and (3) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1966 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in
Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," to specify the salary and ex-
pense allowances for the State's Attorney of Kent County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40(o)(1) and (3) of Article 10 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1966 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and
Attorneys in Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," be and are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

40.

(o) In Kent County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is
[four] six thousand dollars [($4,000) ] ($6,000).

(3) To and including the year [1962] 1970, the State's At-
torney's allowance for [clerical hire is eighteen hundred dollars
($1,800) and his allowance for rental expenses and general office
expenses is twelve hundred dollars ($1,200). From and after Jan-
uary 1, 1963, the State's Attorney's allowance for] clerical hire,
rental expenses and general office expenses is [three thousand dol-
lars ($3,000)] four thousand five hundred dollars ($4,500) and
after January 1, 1971 this allowance shall be two thousand five
hundred dollars ($2,500).
All these expenses shall be paid on the
submission of vouchers therefor to, and after approval by, the Board
of County Commissioners.
