AN ACT to amend Section 18(b) of the Code of Public Local Laws
for Prince George's County (Everstine's 1963 Edition), being
Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"Prince George's County," subtitle "County Commissioners," to
add a new paragraph (40) immediately following paragraph (39)
ADD SECTION 18-1 (B) (42) TO THE CODE OF PUBLIC
LOCAL LAWS OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY (1963
EDITION), BEING ALSO ARTICLE 17 OF THE CODE OF
PUBLIC LOCAL LAWS OF MARYLAND, TITLE "PRINCE
GEORGE'S COUNTY," SUBTITLE "COUNTY COMMIS-
SIONERS," TO FOLLOW IMMEDIATELY AFTER SECTION
18-1 (B) (41) AS ENACTED BY CHAPTER 545 OF THE
ACTS OF 1966, granting the Board of County Commissioners
for Prince George's County the power to recover, by tax lien,
costs for abating nuisances or enforcing Code violations on private
property.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 18(b) of the Code of Public Local Laws for Prince
George's County (Everstine's 1963 Edition), being Article 17 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's
County," subtitle "County Commissioners," is hereby amended to add
a new paragraph (10) to immediately follow paragraph (39) 18 (B)
(42) OF THE CODE OF PUBLIC LOCAL LAWS OF PRINCE
GEORGE'S COUNTY (1963 EDITION), BEING ALSO ARTICLE
17 OF THE CODE OF PUBLIC LOCAL LAWS OF MARYLAND,
TITLE "PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY," SUBTITLE "COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS," BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY ADDED
TO FOLLOW IMMEDIATELY AFTER SECTION 18 (B) (41) AS
ENACTED BY CHAPTER 545 OF THE ACTS OF 1966 to read
as follows:
18.
(b)(40)(42) Enact by ordinance provisions to create a tax lien on
real property for money expended for the razing or removal of unsafe
buildings and other nuisances on private property, which are a
danger to the public health and welfare, where the owner refuses or
fails to comply with a lawful order of the building inspector or a
county agent after notice either actual or constructive is given and an
opportunity for a hearing is provided for. Upon certification of a tax
lien to the County Treasurer by the Board of County Commissioners,
said lien shall be collected in the same manner as other county real
estate taxes.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.
