I, Lloyd L. Simpkins, Secretary of State of the State of
Maryland, pursuant to the direction contained in Section 172 (c) of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1957 Edition), Do
Hereby Certify, that at the General Election held in the State of
Maryland on November 8, 1966, an Act known as Chapter 489 of the
Acts of 1966, was submitted to the voters of the State of Maryland,
pursuant to the provisions of Article 14 of the Constitution of the
State of Maryland, said Act being as follows:

AN ACT to propose an amendment to Section 4 of Article VII
of the Constitution of Maryland, title "Sundry Officers," pro-
viding for the abolition of the office of Commissioner of the
Land Office, and providing for the submission of this amend-
ment to the qualified voters of the State of Maryland for their
adoption or rejection.

and I DO certify that at said election 272,984 votes were cast
in favor of Chapter 489 of the Acts of 1966, and 110,037 votes were
cast against the adoption of Chapter 489 of the Acts of 1966, the said
Act has therefore been ratified by a majority of the qualified voters
of the State of Maryland.

In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my
name and affixed my official seal at the City of Annapolis
this 9th day of December, 1966.
