I, Lloyd L. Simpkins, Secretary of State of the State of
Maryland, pursuant to the direction contained in Section 172 (c) of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1957 Edition), Do
Hereby Certify, that at the General Election held in the State of
Maryland on November 8, 1966, an Act known as Chapter 185 of the
Acts of 1966, was submitted to the voters of the State of Maryland,
pursuant to the provisions of Article 14 of the Constitution of the
State of Maryland, said Act being as follows:
AN ACT to propose an amendment to Article 3 of the Consti-
tution of Maryland by the addition of a new Section 62 thereto,
to follow immediately after Section 61 of said Article 3, title
"Legislative Department," providing that the General Assem-
bly shall have power by law to establish a Workmen's Compen-
sation Commission, relating to the powers of the General
Assembly with respect to the Workmen's Compensation Com-
mission, providing for the continued tenure in office of the
present members of the Commission, and submitting this
amendment to the qualified voters of the State for adoption or
rejection.
and I DO certify that at said election 176,905 votes were cast in
favor of the adoption of Chapter 185 of the Acts of 1966, and 217, 691
votes were cast against the adoption of said Chapter 185 of the Acts
of 1966, the said Act has therefore failed of ratification.
In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my
name and affixed my official seal at the City of Annapolis
this 9th day of December, 1966.
