I, Lloyd L. Simpkins, Secretary of State of the State of
Maryland, pursuant to the direction contained in Section 172 (c) of
Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1957 Edition), Do
Hereby Certify, that at the General Election held in the State of
Maryland on November 8, 1966, an Act known as Chapter 162 of the
Acts of 1966, was submitted to the voters of the State of Maryland,
pursuant to the provisions of Article 14 of the Constitution of the
State of Maryland, said Act being as follows:
AN ACT to propose an amendment to Section 13 of Article III
of the Constitution of Maryland, title "Legislative Depart-
ment," making provision for filling vacancies in the office of
State Senator in certain senatorial districts or subdistricts,
correcting an error in this section, and submitting this amend-
ment to the qualified voters of the State for adoption or
rejection.
and I DO certify that at said election 290,712 votes were cast in
favor of the adoption of Chapter 162 of the Acts of 1966, and 103,176
votes were cast against the adoption of said Chapter 162 of the Acts
of 1966, the said Act has therefore been ratified by a majority of the
qualified voters of the State of Maryland.
In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my
name and affixed my official seal at the City of Annapolis
this 9th day of December, 1966.
