Whereas, due to rapid growth the majority of land to be reserved;
and in particular that bordering on New Gut Road should be
frozen in its present ownership and use until such time as Anne
Arundel County, the State of Maryland, and the Federal Government
have funds available for the acquisition of the designated land area;
now therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Anne
Arundel County Office of Planning and Zoning and the Anne Arundel
County Office of Law advise the General Assembly whether the
restriction of the land to be utilized for the proposed Severn Run
State Park can be restricted to its present use and present ownership
by local ordinance or by an act of the General Assembly following
the basic policies of land acquisition used by the National Park and
Planning Commission, and be it further
Resolved, That it is the sense of the General Assembly of Maryland
that it is of primary importance that land be acquired for the Severn
Run State Park as expeditiously as possible; and be it further
Resolved, That copies of this Resolution be sent to Honorable
Joseph W. Alton, Jr., County Executive of Anne Arundel County,
Bennett Crain, Jr., County Solicitor of Anne Arundel County, Mrs.
Marion J. McCoy, Planning and Zoning Officer of Anne Arundel
County, Spencer P. Ellis, Director of the Department of Forests and
Parks, and the Regional Planning Council.

(House Joint Resolution 60)
House Joint Resolution requesting the Governor to proclaim the week
of June 12-18 as "Fine Arts Week."
Whereas, The Fine Arts Festival is scheduled to take place on
June 15 through June 18 at Dockside, Annapolis, Maryland; and
Whereas, There will be on display selected juried paintings,
sculpture and other art works of adults and junior and senior high
school students of Maryland; and
Whereas, There will also be presented poetry readings and plays,
which shall include comedies and light operas; and
Whereas, There will be a two hour concert by the noted pianist,
Van Cliburn, on Saturday, June 17 at the Naval Academy Field
House; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That a request be
submitted to the Governor to declare the week of June 12-18 as "Fine
Arts Week" and that the Department of Tourism give maximum
support to this cause; and be it further
Resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Governor
and to the Department of Tourism.
