(House Joint Resolution 61)
House Joint Resolution requesting the General Assembly to endorse
the objectives of the "Summer Jobs for Youths" campaign.
Whereas, The President of the United States has used his august
office to highlight the need of young Americans for summer employ-
ment and has called upon our entire nation to cooperate in providing
summer employment opportunities for the millions of young people
who will be leaving school in June; and
Whereas, the youths, ages 16 thru 21, in the State of Maryland
will be seeking summer employment which will help, and in many
cases, allow their return to their classrooms in the fall; and
Whereas, many young Marylanders will seek meaningful training
that will set them on their way toward honorable and contributive
employment careers; and
Whereas, many of these young citizens of our State will be
frustrated in their search for summer opportunities without the
interest and assistance of governmental and private enterprise in
our State; and
Whereas, said young people represent, in the truest sense
Maryland's greatest resource and that sector of our community in
which our future trust and fortunes will reside; now therefore, be it
Resolved, by the General Assembly of the State of Maryland, That
it hereby endorse the objectives of the "Summer Jobs for Youths"
campaign as outlined by the President of the United States; and
be it further
Resolved, That this legislative body lend its prestige to the
furtherance and encouragement of those objectives as among all
citizens of this State; and be it further
Resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Governor.

House Joint Resolution requesting the Governor of Maryland to
appoint a Commission to review the role of the State of Maryland in
the regulation and supervision of solicitation of funds by charitable
organizations.
Whereas, There are an increasing number of legitimate and recog-
nized charities and charitable organizations appealing for public
financial support; and
