Resolved, That copies of this Resolution are sent to the Chairman—
Director for the State Roads Commission and to the members of the
Commission.

(Senate Joint Resolution 10)

Senate Joint Resolution requesting the State Board of Health and
Mental Hygiene to make a study of the feasibility of establishing re-
quirements for permits by food handlers, physical examinations in
connection therewith, and the cost of establishing and maintaining
such a program.

Whereas, Communicable diseases can be transmitted by the
handlers of food in public places; and

Whereas, Systematic physical examination and licensing of such
food handlers will aid greatly in the control of communicable diseases;
and

Whereas, such control will inure to the benefit of the State of
Maryland as a whole; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the State
Board of Health and Mental Hygiene be requested to create in its
Department a Study Group, to consider the feasibility of requiring
food handlers to be licensed, to base such licenses upon physical
examinations including blood tests and chest X-rays, and to consider
further the cost involved in establishing and maintaining such a pro-
gram for examining and licensing food handlers; and be it further

Resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Director of
the State Board of Health and Mental Hygiene; and be it further

Resolved, That the Director of the State Board of Health and Men-
tal Hygiene report the results of the proposed study to the General
Assembly on or before a date within two weeks after said General
Assembly convenes for the 1968 General Session.

(Senate Joint Resolution 16)

Senate Joint Resolution requesting the Governor to declare October
15 as White Cane Safety Day.

Whereas, The citizens of this State should be called upon to observe
the provisions of the White Cane Law and to take precautions neces-
sary to the safety of the disabled; and
