municating therewith by doors or hallways.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, subsection 40 (i)
of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 and 1966
Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact," sub-
title "State's Attorney," to change the salary of the Assistant
State's Attorney in Charles County; and to repeal the provisions
relative to the salary of the secretary to the State's Attorney of
Charles County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That subsection 40 (i) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 and 1966 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys
in Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
40.
(1) In Charles County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is ten
thousand dollars ($10,000).
(2) The State's Attorney may appoint an assistant State's at-
torney and a secretary. The assistant State's attorney's salary is
[five thousand five hundred dollars ($5,500)] seven thousand dollars
($7,000). [The secretary to the State's Attorney may be paid an
annual salary not to exceed four thousand dollars ($4,000), said
salary to be determined by the State's Attorney.] The assistant
State's attorney has the same legal powers as the State's Attorney to
represent the State before grand juries and in the trial of criminal
proceedings.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.
