Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

CHAPTER 107
(House Bill 374)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 12-13 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (1963
Edition), being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Prince George's County," subtitle "Circuit
Court," subheading "Stenographers," as amended by Chapter 424
of 1965, relating to the number, qualifications and salary of the
secretaries appointed by the Judges of the Seventh Judicial Circuit
resident in Prince George's County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 12-13 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1963 Edition), being Article 17 of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County," subtitle "Circuit
Court," subheading "Stenographers," as amended by Chapter 424 of
1965, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
as follows:

12-13.

Any judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit resident in Prince
George's County is hereby authorized to appoint a competent
secretary who shall have had some previous experience in secretarial
work, involving duties that demonstrate the ability to make rapid
and accurate transcripts, and to exercise independent judgment. Said
secretary shall hold his or her position at the pleasure of the judge
by whom he is appointed and shall receive compensation therefor in
the following manner:

The salary for any such secretary shall be [fixed in the discretion
of] paid by the County Commisssioners of Prince George's County
[at a rate not exceeding Six Thousand ($6,000.) per annum] in
accordance with the salary scale for comparable employment estab-
lished by the Prince George's County Personnel Board.
Such com-
pensation shall be levied annually by the County Commissioners of
said County, shall be paid as are the salaries of other county em-
ployees, and charged to the expenses of the Circuit Court of Prince
George's County.

Nothing herein contained shall prevent two or more judges from
employing the same secretary.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.
