CHAPTER 108
(House Bill 375)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 12-9 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (1963
Edition), being also Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, title "Prince George's County," subtitle "Circuit
Court," subheading "Court Library," as last amended by Chapter
692 of the Acts of 1966, relating to the augmentation of the
Circuit Court Library from the County general fund, and to pro-
vide that the salary of the Court Librarian be set in accordance
with salary scales for comparable employment as established by
the Prince George's County Personnel Board, and further to pro-
vide that the augmentation of said library's books, publications,
materials, and fixtures to be determined from year to year by the
Prince George's County Commissioners in their discretion.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 12-9 "Payment of Fines," of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Prince George's County (1963 Edition, as amended by Chap-
ter 692 of the Acts of 1966), being also Article 17 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County," subtitle
"Circuit Court," subheading "Court Library," as last amended by
Chapter 692 of the Acts of 1966, be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

12-9.

In Prince George's County, notwithstanding the provision of any
other law, one-half of the fines imposed by and recognizances for-
feited to the Circuit Court for Prince George's County, Maryland, or
the several Justices of the Peace at Large for said County, designated
as Judges of the People's Court for Prince George's County, other
than fines imposed and recognizances forfeited with relation to the
"Motor Vehicles Laws" the laws respecting "Wild Fowl-Birds and
Game" and "Fish and Fisheries," and unless directed to be paid other-
wise by the law imposing them and excepting fines for the violation
of ordinances of any incorporated municipality of Prince George's
County, but including, however, fines and forfeitures for offenses at
common law, shall, within thirty days from the date of collection
thereof, be paid to the County Commissioners for Prince George's
County to become part of the general fund. The County Com-
missioners for Prince George's County shall expend [the sum of
seven thousand five hundred dollars ($7,500)] annually such sum
as they determine to be necessary
for augmentation of said library
in the procurement of additional books, publications, material or
fixtures for use therein, as may be directed by the Judges of said
Court from time to time; and in addition to the amount hereinabove
provided for augmentation of such library a sum [not to exceed five
thousand dollars ($5,000)] annually [under direction of the Judges
of said Court,] in accordance with salary scales for comparable
employment as established by the Prince George's County Personnel
Board
for the payment of a salary or other compensation to a Court
Librarian, to be appointed by the Judges of said Court [as deter-
mined by said Judges] from time to time.
