Department of Chesapeake Bay Affairs and used for repletion of
fisheries resources, marketing of fisheries products, and related re-
search. The Fisheries Research and Development Fund may be used
to match Federal funds that may be or become available
for research
and development of fisheries resources.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

CHAPTER 486
(Senate Bill 373)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 325, 326
and 328 of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957
Edition and 1966 Supplement), title "Natural Resources", subtitle
"Fish and Fisheries", subheading "Crabs, Lobster and Terrapins",
and to repeal Sections 330, 331, and 334 of said Article, title, sub-
title, and subheading of said Code repealing provisions as to the
use of power boats in the taking of crabs and as to method of
taking crabs and repealing obsolete provisions as to the rules of
Maryland and Virginia for taking crabs in the Potomac River and
in several sections of the crab laws deleting references to the
Tidewater Fisheries Commission and substituting therefor refer-
ences to the Department of Chesapeake Bay Affairs.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 325, 326 and 328 of Article 66C of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1966 Supplement), title "Natural
Resources", subtitle "Fish and Fisheries", subheading "Crabs,
Lobster and Terrapins", be and they are hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, and that Sections 330, 331, and 334 of
said Article, title, subtitle, and subheading of said Code, be and are
hereby repealed, and all to read as follows:

325.

The [Commission of Tidewater Fisheries] Department of Chesa-
peake Bay Affairs
is authorized and empowered, after reasonable
notice by publication or otherwise, to permit the catching, canning,
packing, shipping or possession of the egg-bearing female crab,
known as the sponge crab, spawn crab, blooming female crab, or
mother crab, or the female crab from which the egg pouch or bunion
has been removed, under such regulations as it may prescribe, or
to prohibit the catching, canning, packing, shipping or possession
of the same. Any such regulation or prohibition shall have the force
and effect of law, and any person violating the same shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor and subject to the penalties prescribed by Section
332.

326.

It shall be unlawful for any person to take, catch or have in his
possession any hard crabs, measuring less than five inches across
the shell from tip to tip of spike, or any peelers (which are hereby
