Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the pensions of those court stenographers retired and receiving
pensions on January 1, 1966 under Section 299 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Baltimore City (1949 Edition, being Article 4 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland) title "Baltimore City",
subtitle "Criers, Bailiffs, Watchmen, and Stenographers", as last
amended by Chapters 252 and 451 of the Acts of 1963, be increased
to $4,000 $3,000 per annum, from and after July 1, 1966.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June JULY 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 523
(Senate Bill 260)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 119 (1)
(c) and 122 (a) of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition and 1965 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles",
subtitle "Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility", to change the
amounts of property damage resulting from a motor vehicle acci-
dent for which the license and registration plates of the operator
are suspended for the purpose of making these amounts uniform.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 119 (1) (c) and 122 (a) of Article 66½ of the An-
notated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1965 Supplement), title
"Motor Vehicles", subtitle "Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility",
be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

119.
(1)

(c) The judgment herein referred to shall mean any final judg-
ment for damage to property in excess of [twenty-five ($25.00) dol-
lars] one hundred dollars ($100.00) or for damages in any amount
on account of: bodily injury to or death of any person resulting from
the ownership, operation, maintenance or use of any motor vehicle.

122. (a) Within ninety days after the receipt of a report of a
motor vehicle accident within this State which has resulted in bodily
injury or death, or damage to the property of any one person in
excess of one hundred [fifty dollars ($150.00)] dollars ($100.00),
the Department shall suspend the license of each operator and all
registrations of each owner of a motor vehicle in any manner in-
volved in such accident, and if such operator is a nonresident the
privilege of operating a motor vehicle within this State, and if such
owner is a nonresident the privilege of the use within this State of
any motor vehicle owned by him, unless such operator or owner or
both shall deposit security in a sum which shall be sufficient in the
judgment of the Department to satisfy any judgment or judgments
for damages resulting from such accident as may be recovered against
