be six thousand dollars ($6,000.00) and the assistant State's at-
torney's salary shall be three thousand dollars ($3,000.00). They
shall have the same legal powers as the State's Attorney to repre-
sent the State before grand juries and in the trial of criminal
proceedings.
(3) The Board of County Commissioners shall pay all reasonable
expenses for the conduct of the office of State's Attorney.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the increase in salary
here provided for the State's Attorney of Harford County shall
not affect the compensation of the State's Attorney in office on
the effective date of this Act, for the remainder of the term in
which he then is serving; the increase in compensation shall take
effect at the beginning of the term of office of the State's Attorney
of Harford County who is elected to that position at the time of
the regular elections in the month of November, 1966.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

(Senate Bill 560)
AN ACT to add new Section 474 (a) (12) to the Code of Public Local
Laws of Harford County (1965 Edition, being Article 13 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Harford County",
subtitle "Roads and Public Works", to follow immediately after
Section 474 (a) (11) thereof, authorizing the Director of Public
Works of Harford County to establish a division of licenses and
inspections, with such powers and duties as may be provided by
law, all subject to the approval of the County Commissioners of
Harford County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 474 (a) (12) be and it is hereby added to the Code
of Public Local Laws of Harford County (1965 Edition, being Article
13 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Harford
County", subtitle "Roads and Public Works", to follow immediately
after Section 474 (a) (11) thereof, and to read as follows:
474. (a)
(12) Subject to the approval of the County Commissioners, to
establish a division of licenses and inspections within the Depart-
ment of Public Works. Such division shall have such duties and
powers, relating to the issuance of licenses and inspections and fees
required therefor, as may be assigned to it by statute or ordinance.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.
