Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 597 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany
County (1963 Edition, being Article 1 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Allegany County", subtitle "Schools", be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

597. The County Commissioners shall be and they are hereby
authorized and directed, to pay the sum of fifty dollars ($50.00) per
month or less to any former public school teacher in Allegany County
who qualifies under the provision of this section. Such payments
shall be made only to those former public school teachers who were
employed as teachers in Allegany County for a period of at least
fifteen years,
who retired while teaching in the Allegany County
School System and who are eligible to receive less than two hundred
dollars ($200.00) per month, as a regular retirement allowance from
the Board of Trustees of the Maryland State Teachers' Retirement
System or from any other Teachers' Retirement System supported
in whole or in part by the State of Maryland or Allegany County.
Supplemental payment shall not be greater than the amount required
to raise the aforesaid regular annual retirement allowance to two
hundred dollars ($200.00) per month. The County Commissioners
shall annually levy an amount sufficient to pay such payments as
herein set forth.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 56
(Senate Bill 394)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (m)
of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Supple-
ment), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact", subtitle
"State's Attorney", increasing the salary of the State's Attorney
for Harford County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 (m) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1965 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys
in Fact", subtitle "State's Attorney", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

40.

(m) In Harford County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is
[seven thousand dollars ($7,000). On and after January 1, 1967
he shall receive ten thousand dollars ($10,000) per year salary]
twelve thousand dollars ($12,000) each year.

(2) The State's Attorney, with the approval of the judge of
the Circuit Court for the county, may appoint a deputy State's
attorney and an assistant State's attorney to serve at the State's
Attorney's pleasure. The deputy State's attorney's salary shall
