CHAPTER 354
(House Bill 907)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 37 (d) of
Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Supplement),
title "Sheriffs," subtitle "Compensation and Duties," increasing
the compensation of the Sheriff and of the deputy sheriffs of Cal-
vert County, and providing for the appointment of additional
deputy sheriffs
.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37 (d) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1965 Supplement), title "Sheriffs," subtitle "Compensation and
Duties," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

37.

(d) The Sheriff of Calvert County shall receive an annual salary
of [$5,000] $6,000 and $2,500 for all expenses. The said Sheriff shall
appoint [two] four deputy sheriffs to serve at the pleasure of said
Sheriff and under his direction. Each deputy sheriff shall receive
an annual salary in the amount of [$4,000] $5,000 and an allowance
for expenses in an annual amount of $2,500. In addition to the salaries
above set forth, the sheriff and deputies shall be reimbursed for
actual expenses incurred for trips outside the territorial limits of
Calvert County up to a sum not to exceed .$15.00 per trip.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the increased compensa-
tion here provided for the Sheriff of Calvert County shall not be
construed to change or affect the compensation of the Sheriff in office
at the time this Act is effective, for the remainder of the term in
which he then is serving; but the increased compensation for the
Sheriff shall be effective as of the beginning of the term of the
Sheriff elected to that position in the regular elections during the
month of November, 1966.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

AN ACT to repeal Section 94 of Article 2B of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1965 Supplement), title "Alcoholic Beverages," sub-
title "Hours and Days for Sale," AND TO REPEAL AND RE-
ENACT WITH AMENDMENTS SECTION 21(D) OF SAID
ARTICLE AND TITLE OF SAID CODE (1957 EDITION), SUB-
TITLE "BEER, WINE AND LIQUOR LICENSES", removing
restriction of sale of beer, wine and liquor permitted by Class D
