per capita of approved public library service. Local tax sources shall
include all monies appropriated to the Public Library Fund by the
counties or participating municipalities.

Any county may provide an amount in excess of its share of the
cooperative program, but the State shall not share in the excess.

UNTIL JUNE 30, 1968, COUNTIES SHALL HAVE THE OP-
TION OF OPERATING UNDER A COOPERATIVE PROGRAM
BASED ON ONE DOLLAR AND TWENTY CENTS ($1.20) PER
CAPITA OR ONE DOLLAR AND FIFTY CENTS ($1.50) PER
CAPITA OR ONE DOLLAR AND EIGHTY CENTS ($1.80) PER
CAPITA. AFTER JULY 1, 1968, ALL COUNTIES, IN ORDER TO
PARTICIPATE IN THE COOPERATIVE PROGRAM, SHALL
BASE THE PROGRAM ON ONE DOLLAR AND EIGHTY CENTS
($1.80) PER CAPITA.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 319
(House Bill 33)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 233 of
Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement
Volume), title "Revenue and Taxes," subtitle "State Department
of Assessments and Taxation," correcting an error in the laws
relating to supervisors of assessments in this State.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 233 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume), title "Revenue and Taxes," subtitle
"State Department of Assessments and Taxation," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

233.

In each county of the State and in Baltimore City there shall be a
supervisor of assessments who shall be a resident thereof and who
shall be appointed by the State Department of Assessments and
Taxation from a list of five persons submitted to said Department
by the County commissioners of each county and by the mayor of
Baltimore City in the case of the supervisor of Baltimore City, and
by the County Council of Baltimore County in the case of the super-
visor of Baltimore County, and said supervisors shall be removable
at any time by the State Department of Assessments and Taxation
for incompetency or other cause. The supervisor shall hold no other
public office of profit. If the State Department of Assessments and
Taxation deem fit to be appointed none of the persons whose names
are upon a list submitted as aforesaid, they may reject all the nomi-
nations and call for a new list. In case the county commissioners of
any county, the County Council of Baltimore County, [of] or the
mayor of Baltimore shall fail to furnish the list herein provided for
