within twenty days after notice from the State Department of As-
sessments and Taxation the said Department shall have power to
fill such office immediately after the expiration of such time. The
supervisors shall be furnished with an office at the county seat by
the county commissioners of each county, and the supervisor of as-
sessments for Baltimore County shall be furnished with an office
at the county seat by the County Council, and the supervisors of as-
sessments for Baltimore City shall likewise be furnished an office
in Baltimore City by the mayor and city council; and they shall be
allowed such clerical help and expense as the county commissioners,
and the County Council of Baltimore County, and the mayor and
city council of Baltimore shall respectively determine. They shall
confer frequently with the State Department of Assessments and
Taxation, submitting questions for determination to that Depart-
ment and shall receive and carry out instructions given by the
Department or the chief supervisor of assessments appointed by the
Department for their guidance in supervising the valuation and
assessment of real and personal property; they shall likewise keep
constantly informed of the method of work pursued by other super-
visors of assessments. After July 1,1961, supervisors of assessments
shall not hold their position after they have attained the age of
seventy (70) years, except that this shall not apply to the supervisor
of assessments of Baltimore County until and after December 1,1966.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 320
(House Bill 34)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 284J(c)
of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Public Education," subtitle "Chapter 27C.
Medical Scholarships," amending the laws concerning eligibility
for certain scholarships to the School of Medicine of the University
of Maryland in order to correct an error therein.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 284J(c) of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1965 Replacement Volume), title "Public Education," subtitle
"Chapter 27C. Medical Scholarships," be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

284J.

(c) Eligibility for a scholarship under this section shall be lim-
ited to persons (1) who have been residents of Maryland for at least
five (5) years preceding an award for such a scholarship, (2) who
have or expect to receive within the academic year of application a
bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
within or without the State of Maryland, (3) whose financial needs
and resources meet the requirements [therefore] therefor as de-
