(c) It shall be unlawful to operate on any public highway or
street of this State, any motor vehicle registered in this State and
sold as a new vehicle after June 1, 1967, unless the motor vehicle
is equipped with automatic brake lights, to show a lighted signal
visible on the rear of the vehicle and to indicate an intention to
stop or to decrease speed whenever the brake pedal is applied.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 198
(House Bill 135)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 1 of
Article 63 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1964 Replacement
Volume), title ''Mechanics' Lien," subtitle "In General," to include
construction and installation of swimming pools as subject to
mechanics' liens.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 1 of Article 63 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Replacement Volume), title "Mechanics' Lien, subtitle "In
General," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

1.

Every building erected and every building repaired, rebuilt or im-
proved to the extent of one fourth its value in Baltimore City and in
any of the counties shall be subject to a lien for the payment of all
debts contracted for work done for or about the same, and for ma-
terials furnished for or about the same, including the drilling and
installation of wells for the purpose of supplying water, the con-
struction or installation of any swimming pools,
the sodding, seeding
or planting in or about the premises, of any shrubs, trees, plants,
flowers or nursery products of any kind or description and the grad-
ing, filling, landscaping, and paving thereon. However, no building or
the land on which it sits shall be subject to a lien as set forth above, if
it shall be proved by evidence that all moneys due for work contracted
and materials furnished in repairing or constructing such building
has been paid to such persons, firms or corporations who have actually
performed the labor, supplied the materials and said building has
been conveyed to a bona fide purchaser for value without notice.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.
