(b) The Commission from time to time shall elect one of their
number to serve as Vice-Chairman. In the absence of the Chairman,
the Vice-Chairman shall assume the duties of that office.
(c) The Commission from time to time shall elect one of their
number to serve as Treasurer. The Treasurer shall be a responsible
person and shall receive and account for such funds of the Commis-
sion as come into his custody. He shall provide a corporate surety
bond in such sum as may be determined by the Commission from
time to time, conditioned upon the proper and faithful performance
of his duties; and the premium for the bond shall be paid by the
Commission from time to time, as one of its proper expenses.
372. Legal counsel.
The Commissioners may request, and upon request shall receive
from the Attorney General of the State of Maryland, all legal counsel
and services necessary to carry out the purposes of the Commission.
373. Transfer of monies or property to Commission.
The Commission may receive and the State of Maryland may pay
over and transfer to the Commission, from time to time, monies or
property to carry out the purposes of the Commission.
374. Procuring, selling, conveying, assigning, leasing, etc., property;
contracts.
The Commission may procure, sell, convey, assign, lease, or other-
wise purchase, transfer, or dispose of any property acquired or held
by it and enter into any contracts incident thereto, including but not
limited to the authority to lease properties for residential or com-
mercial use, for such term and upon such conditions as the Commis-
sion deems appropriate; except that any leases made by the Commis-
sion shall be in immediate furtherance of the purposes of the
Commission and not merely for investment purposes; and except
that valuable lands and buildings transferred to the Commission
by the State or purchased by the Commission with funds provided
by the State shall not be conveyed or disposed of without the ap-
proval of the Board of Public Works. For the purposes of this
section the term valuable shall mean any property or thing in excess
of $5,000.00 in value.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That Chapter 487 of the Acts
of the General Assembly of 1931 and Chapter 344 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1933, together with any amendments or addi-
tions thereto, are modified to the extent that any Commission or
agency to be appropriated thereunder is abolished; and all other or
former commissions or agencies established with respect to the so-
called State House Replica property and premises at St. Mary's City,
including the Maryland Tercentenary Memorial Commission, are
abolished.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1966.
