Whereas, There are many veterans in the State of Maryland who
are too ill or disabled to be self-sustaining, and
Whereas, There are approximately thirty-three (33) states in the
United States that presently have one or more State veterans' homes,
and
Whereas, Federal legislation has been enacted to give financial
assistance to these homes, and
Whereas, These homes have shown in the past the ability to re-
habilitate and re-educate these veterans, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Governor
of Maryland is hereby requested to appoint a commission to undertake
a study and review of the feasibility of establishing a Maryland
Veterans' Home, and the creation of a Board of Managers to admin-
ister said home, the said commission to be composed of the Maryland
Veterans' Commission and five (5) additional members to be ap-
pointed by the Governor from those citizens of the State who have
served in the Armed Forces of the United States during any of its
wars or the Korean or Vietnam conflicts and who are by way of
interest, employment or avocation most familiar with veterans' prob-
lems. All members shall serve at the will of the Governor and shall
not be compensated except for reasonable expenses incurred in the
performance of their duties.
The commission is further requested to prepare its report and form-
ulate its recommendations concerning the subjects referred to it and
submit them to the Governor, the President of Senate, the members
of the Senate and the members of the House of Delegates not later
than January 20, 1967.

House Joint Resolution requesting the Prince George's County
Board of Education to investigate the feasibility of using public
carriers to transport school children.
Whereas, planned rapid transit systems in Prince George's County
are being developed requiring growth of feeder bus lines into it; and
Whereas, it is becoming more difficult to find and employ qualified
drivers for school buses; and
Whereas, the purchase, maintenance, and storage of large fleets
of school busses is becoming more costly; and
Whereas, school busses are over-crowded to the detriment of the
health and welfare of school children in Prince George's County;
now, therefore, be it
Resolved, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Prince
George's County Board of Education meet with the Washington
Suburban Transit Commission to determine the feasibility of using
