CHAPTER 97
(House Bill 711)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 127 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Kent County (1959 Edition,
being Article 15 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Kent County," subtitle "County Treasurer," to increase the
annual compensation of the Deputy Treasurer of Kent County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 127 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Kent County
(1959 Edition, being Article 15 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Kent County," subtitle "County Treasurer," be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
127.
The Treasurer shall appoint a deputy Treasurer who shall qualify
under the Constitution of the State, and shall give such bond to
the Treasurer as he may require, and the deputy Treasurer shall
receive as compensation effective [June 1, 1961] July 1, 1966, an
annual salary of [three thousand two hundred dollars ($3,200.00)]
thirty-eight hundred dollars ($3,800.00), payable in equal monthly
installments.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1,1966.

CHAPTER 98
(House Bill 777)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 53 of
Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Supplement),
title "Sheriffs," subtitle "Deputy Sheriffs," to authorize the Sheriff
of Frederick County to designate members of fire companies in the
County as deputy sheriffs for the county, to have the powers of
deputies at or going to or from fires, including fires within towns
in the county.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 53 of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Supplement), title "Sheriffs," subtitle "Deputy Sheriffs," be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
53.
(a) The provisions of the foregoing sections in this subtitle shall
only apply to Allegany, Baltimore, Cecil and Washington counties,
but the powers conferred by virtue hereof upon members of fire
companies shall not apply or be exercised in incorporated cities, towns
or villages which maintain an organized or regular police force.
