annual license fee of [three hundred dollars ($300.00)] two hun-
dred dollars ($200.00).
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1,1966.

(House Bill 635)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (k)
of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Supple-
ment), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact," subtitle
"State's Attorney," increasing the salaries of the State's Attorney
and deputy State's Attorney for Frederick County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 (k) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1965 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in
Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
40.
(k) In Frederick County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is
[five thousand dollars ($5,000)] seven thousand five hundred dol-
lars ($7,500.00).
(2) Subject to the approval of the resident judge of the Circuit
Court, the State's Attorney may appoint a member of the bar of
Frederick County as deputy State's Attorney, to serve at the
pleasure of the State's Attorney. The deputy State's attorney's sal-
ary is [thirty-six hundred dollars ($3,600)] four thousand dollars
($4,000.00). Under the direction of the State's Attorney, the deputy
State's attorney shall present cases to the grand jury and perform
such other acts and duties in relation to the grand jury and in the
operation of the office as are necessary and proper.
(3) The Board of County Commissioners shall provide an office
in the courthouse for the State's Attorney. The Board shall pay the
expenses of the office, including general operating expenses, cost of
equipment, and the reasonable salary of a stenographer to be ap-
pointed by the State's Attorney.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the increases in salary pro-
vided by this Act shall take effect on the first Monday of Janu-
ary, 1967, for the State's Attorney, and on the first day of July,
1966, for the deputy State's Attorney.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That subject to the provisions of
Section 2, hereof, this Act shall take effect June 1, 1966.
