Section 1. Enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Sections 159 (c) and 159(h) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1965 Supplement), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle
"County Liquor Control Boards and Dispensaries," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

159.

(c) The members of the respective boards shall be appointed by
the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. Provided,
that in Somerset County they shall be appointed by the Governor. In
Harford County they shall be appointed by the Board of County Com-
missioners. In Garrett County the County Commissioners shall be ex
officio the members of the liquor control board. In Kent County the
County Commissioners shall be ex officio the members of the liquor
control board. In Harford County said board shall also be known as
the board of license commissioners of Harford County, upon which
shall be devolved all the duties and rights given elsewhere in this
article. In Montgomery County the director of the department of
liquor control shall be appointed and removed by the county manager
with the approval of the county council. If there is no resident Sena-
tor from Worcester County in the Senate of Maryland, these appoint-

ments in Worcester County shall be by and with the advice and con-

sent of the House of Delegates of Maryland.

(h) Members of the several boards shall receive compensation
as follows:

(1)     Caroline County—Five hundred dollars per annum.

(2)    Harford County—Twelve hundred dollars per annum, pro-
vided that an addition compensation shall be paid board members for
administrative services.

(3)    Kent County—Three hundred dollars per annum.

(4)     Montgomery County—The salary of the director of the de-
partment of liquor control shall be fixed by the county manager with
the approval of the County Council.

(5)    Somerset County—Seven hundred and fifty dollars ($750)
per annum.

(6)    Wicomico County—Nine hundred dollars per annum, and a
salary of three hundred dollars per annum for the chairman of the
board, in addition to and over and above such compensation pre-
scribed herein for members of the said board.

(7)    Worcester County—[One hundred dollars] Twelve hundred
dollars
per annum, with a mileage fee of [five cents] ten cents per
mile when in attendance upon meetings.

SEC. 1A. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
OF MARYLAND, THAT IF ANY PROVISION OF THIS ACT OR
THE APPLICATION THEREOF TO ANY PERSON OR CIRCUM-
STANCE IS HELD INVALID FOR ANY REASON, SUCH IN-
VALIDITY SHALL NOT AFFECT THE OTHER PROVISIONS OR
ANY OTHER APPLICATION OF THIS ACT WHICH CAN BE
GIVEN EFFECT WITHOUT THE INVALID PROVISIONS OR
APPLICATION, AND TO THIS END, ALL THE PROVISIONS OF
THIS ACT ARE HEREBY DECLARED TO BE SEVERABLE.
