and the salary payable to such assistant supervisor of assessments,
and provided further that where the designation of certified assess-
ment evaluator has been obtained pursuant to subsection 237(m)
of this article, the salary scale for such position shall be $500 per
annum greater than the appropriate sum designated for each step
within the grade hereinabove in this subsection, provided, however,
that the portion of said salary to be paid by the State shall be
limited to the amount prescribed in the schedule set forth in Section
237 of this article.
240.
(a) Baltimore County, Maryland, shall be authorized and di-
rected to levy and pay to the supervisor of assessments of said
county an annual salary as specified in standard salary grade XL as
established by the personnel and salary advisory board of Baltimore
County, Maryland, from time to time, including increments for time
served and longevity specified for such grade, provided, however, that
the portion of said salary to be paid by the State shall be limited
to the amount as prescribed in the schedules set forth in Section 236
of this article, provided, however, that service prior to June 1, 1963,
shall be taken into consideration in determining the salary payable
to such supervisor of assessments.
(b) Montgomery County, Maryland, shall be authorized and di-
rected to levy and pay the supervisor of assessments of Montgomery
County a salary as specified in general pay schedule, Grade 39, as
established by the Personnel Board of Montgomery County, Mary-
land, from time to time, including increments for time served and
longevity specified for such grade, provided, however, that service
of such supervisor of assessments prior to June 30, 1966, as super-
visor of assessments, shall be taken into consideration in determining
the appropriate step within such grade and the salary payable to
such supervisor of assessments, and provided further that where the
designation of certified assessment evaluator has been obtained pur-
suant to subsection 237(m) of this article, the salary scale for such
position shall be $500 per annum greater than the appropriate
sum designated for each step within the grade hereinabove in this
subsection, provided, however, that the portion of said salary to be
paid by the State shall be limited to the amount prescribed in the
schedule set forth in Section 236 of this article.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That it is not intended that
reference to the General Pay Schedule established by the Personnel
Board of Montgomery County, Maryland, should subject assessors,
assessors' aides, senior assessors, the field supervisor, the assistant
supervisor of assessments, or the supervisor of assessments to the
jurisdiction of the Personnel Board of Montgomery County, Mary-
land, but is merely for the purpose of establishing the compensation
payable to such employees.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1966.
