Baltimore County, Maryland, shall be authorized and directed to levy
and pay such field supervisor of assessments of Baltimore County
a salary as specified in standard salary grade XXIX as established by
the personnel and salary advisory board of Baltimore County Mary-
land, from time to time, including increments for time served and
longevity specified for such grade, provided, however, that service of
such field supervisor of assessments prior to June 30, 1963, as field
supervisor of assessments, shall be taken into consideration in deter-
mining the salary payable to him, and provided further that the
portion of said salary to be paid by the State shall be limited to the
amount provided in Section 237 of this article.

(b) The supervisor of assessments of Montgomery County is
hereby authorized to designate one member of his staff as a field
supervisor. Montgomery County, Maryland, shall be authorized and
directed to levy and pay the field supervisor of assessments of Mont-
gomery County a salary as specified in general pay schedule, Grade 32,
as established by the Personnel Board of Montgomery County, Mary-
land, from time to time, including increments for time served and
longevity specified for such grade, provided, however, that service
of such field supervisor of assessments prior to June 30, 1966, as
field supervisor of assessments, shall be taken into consideration in
determining the appropriate step within such grade and the salary
payable to such field supervisor of assessments, and provided further
that where the designation of certified assessment evaluator has
been obtained pursuant to subsection 237(m) of this article, the
salary scale for such position shall be $500 per annum greater than
the appropriate sum designated for each step within the grade here-
inabove in this subsection, provided, however, that the portion of
said salary to be paid by the State shall be limited to the amount
prescribed in the schedule set forth in Section 237 of this Article.

239.

(a)    The county executive of Baltimore County, Maryland, shall
upon recommendation of the supervisor of assessments designate one
of the county assessors as assistant supervisor of assessments and
Baltimore County, Maryland, shall be authorized and directed to levy
and pay said assistant supervisor of assessments an annual salary
as specified in standard salary grade XXXIV as established by the
personnel and salary advisory board of Baltimore County, Maryland,
from time to time, including increments for time served and
longevity specified for such grade, provided, however, that the portion
of said salary to be paid by the State shall be limited to the amount
prescribed in the schedule set forth in Section 237 of this article,
provided, however, that service prior to June 1, 1963, shall be taken
into consideration in determining the salary payable to such assist-
ant supervisor of assessments.

(b)    Montgomery County, Maryland, shall be authorized and di-
rected to levy and pay the assistant supervisor of assessments of
Montgomery County a salary as specified in general pay schedule,
Grade 34, as established by the Personnel Board of Montgomery
County, Maryland, from time to time, including increments for time
served and longevity specified for such grade, provided, however, that
service of such assistant supervisor of assessments prior to June 30,
1966, as assistant supervisor of assessments, shall be taken into con-
sideration in determining the appropriate step within such grade
