THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SHALL GIVE BOND TO THE
STATE OF MARYLAND IN SUCH PENALTY AND FORM AS
SHALL BE DETERMINED BY THE COMPTROLLER.

(d) THE COMMISSION MAY EMPLOY AND DISCHARGE
AT ANY TIME INSPECTORS OR AUDITORS. IT ALSO MAY
EMPLOY INVESTIGATORS WHOSE POSITIONS SHALL BE
WITHIN THE MERIT SYSTEM ESTABLISHED BY ARTICLE
64A OF THIS CODE. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF MARY-
LAND MAY APPOINT A QUALIFIED ATTORNEY AT LAW
WHO SHALL SERVE AT THE PLEASURE OF THE ATTORNEY
GENERAL TO REPRESENT THE COMMISSION.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act affects
the appointment, tenure or merit system status of any of the persons
holding possitions on June 1, 1966, as Executive Director, investiga-
tor, or other similar occupation in the Maryland Home Improvement
Commission.

SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT ANY IN-
VESTIGATORS OF THE MARYLAND HOME IMPROVEMENT
COMMISSION WHO HAVE HELD SUCH POSITIONS FOR NOT
LESS THAN THE SIX MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING
THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ACT SHALL BE INCLUDED
IN THE MERIT SYSTEM PROVISIONS IN ARTICLE 64A OF
THIS CODE WITH NO QUALIFYING OR OTHER EXAMINA-
TION.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

(House Bill 220)

AN ACT to repeal and re enact, with amendments, Section 11(a)
(11) of Article 36 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965
Replacement Volume), title "Fees of Officers," subtitle "Bailiffs
and Criers," to increase the
salary of bailiffs in Charles County;
and to add new Section 11(b) to said
Article to follow immediately

after Section 11 (a) thereof, to empower the chief judge of the

Circuit Court for Charles County to appoint court deputies and

to provide the duties and salary for same.

AN ACT TO ADD NEW SECTION 11(C) TO ARTICLE 36 OF THE
ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND (1965 REPLACEMENT
VOLUME), TITLE "FEES OF OFFICERS," SUBTITLE "BAIL-
IFFS AND CRIERS," TO FOLLOW IMMEDIATELY AFTER
SECTION 11(B) THEREOF, TO EMPOWER THE CIRCUIT
JUDGE RESIDING IN CHARLES COUNTY TO APPOINT
COURT DEPUTIES AND TO PROVIDE THE DUTIES AND
SALARY FOR SAME.
