AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Howard County (1965 Edition, being
Article 14 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title
"Howard County," subtitle "County Commissioners and County
Collector," increasing the salaries of the County Commissioners
of Howard County and establishing a minimum number of meeting
days per week for the Board.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Howard County
(1965 Edition, being Article 14 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland), title "Howard County," subtitle "County Commission-
ers and County Collector," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

40.

(a)    The County Commissioners of Howard County shall each
receive an annual salary of [four thousand dollars ($4,000)] six
thousand dollars ($6,000.00) payable in equal monthly installments,
provided, however, that said Commissioners shall elect one of their
members as Chairman and he shall be paid a sum of [four hundred
dollars ($400.00)] five hundred dollars ($500.00) per annum, also
payable in equal monthly installments, in addition to his salary of
[four thousand dollars ($4,000.00)] six thousand dollars ($6,000.00).

(b)    The Board of County Commissioners shall meet for the trans-
action of public business at their office in Ellicott City at least two
days each week and as much more often as the proper discharge of
their duties may require.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this section
shall affect or change the salary of the incumbent county commis-
sioners during their present term.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.
