merit system as to specifications and salaries related thereto for the
supervisor of assessments, but the portion of said salary to be paid
by the State shall be limited to 60% of the amount required to be
paid to a supervisor of assessments in Class B counties, according
to the applicable scale of the Maryland State employees standard
salary scale as provided for above in this section.

(q) [Effective as of July 1, 1965,] Prince George's County shall
levy and pay a sum equal to the amounts prescribed by the Merit
Board of Prince George's County, which shall establish within the
merit system classifications adequately reflecting the qualifications,
knowledge and skill of the various classes of assessors, and which
shall be competitive in salary with those elsewhere paid for similar
qualifications, knowledge and skill [Prince George's County merit
system for grade A-13, to the assistant supervisor of assessments;
grade A-12 to the field supervisor of assessments; grade A-11, to all
senior assessors; grade A-10 to all assessors and grade A-8 to all
assessors aides], but the portion of said salary to be paid by the
State shall be limited to 60% of the amounts required to be paid
according to the applicable scale of Maryland State employees stand-
ard salary scale as otherwise provided in this section.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1966.
