AN ACT to repeal Section 233A of Article 81 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume), title "Revenue
and Taxes," subtitle "State Department of Assessments and Taxa-
tion, and to enact new Section 233A in lieu thereof, to stand
in the place of the section repealed; AND TO ENACT A NEW
SECTION 233A IN LIEU THEREOF, TO STAND IN THE
PLACE OF THE SECTION SO REPEALED; and to repeal and re-
enact, with amendments, Sections 236 (h) and 237 (q) of said Article
and subtitle of the Code, deleting a requirement setting forth a
minimum appropriation to the office of supervisors of assessments
in Prince George's County, directing the County Commissioners
of Prince George's County to periodically review the needs of
such office, directing the Merit Board of the county to establish
competitive classifications and salaries for county assessors, and
relating generally to the classification and compensation of as-
sessors in Prince George's County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 233A of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume), title "Revenue and Taxes," subtitle
"State Department of Assessments and Taxation," be and it is hereby
repealed, and that new Section 233A be and it is hereby enacted in
lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the section repealed; AND
THAT A NEW SECTION 233A BE AND IT IS HEREBY EN-
ACTED IN LIEU THEREOF, TO STAND IN THE PLACE OF
THE SECTION SO REPEALED; and that Sections 236(h) and 237
(q) of said Article and subtitle of the Code be and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments; and all to read as follows:

IN PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY THE COUNTY COMMIS-
SIONERS ANNUALLY SHALL REVIEW THE NEEDS OF THE
OFFICE OF THE COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ASSESSMENTS
AS TO PERSONNEL, ORGANIZATION, SPACE AND EQUIP-
MENT, IN ORDER TO PROMOTE AND ENCOURAGE EFFI-
CIENCY IN THE CONDUCT OF THE DUTIES OF THAT
OFFICE.
233A.
In Prince George's County the County Commissioners shall from
time to time review the needs of the office of the county supervisors
of assessments as to personnel, organization, space and equipment,
so as to encourage a high level of efficiency in the conduct of the
duties of that office.
236.
(h) [Effective as of July 1, 1965] Prince George's County shall
levy and pay [a] such sum [equal to the amounts prescribed for
grade A-14 of the Prince George's County merit system,] as the
