academies.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1966.

(House Bill 540)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 268 (b)
and 282(b) of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1965 Replacement Volume), title "Public Education," subtitle
"Chapter 27. Free Scholarships," to increase the number of schol-
arships awarded in each senatorial district of the State by mem-
bers of the House of Delegates.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 268(b) and 282(b) of Article 77 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume), title "Public Educa-
tion," subtitle "Chapter 27. Free Scholarships," be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and to read as
follows:
268.
(b) In addition, beginning for the academic year 1967-68 and
thereafter, a number of students from each senatorial district of
the State, equal to two times the number of Delegates which such
district may be entitled to elect to the House of Delegates, appointed
according to the provisions of Section 282 of this article, shall be
educated by the University free of charge for tuition.

(b) All scholarships to the University of Maryland provided for
under subsection (b) of Section 268 of this article to which residents
of each senatorial district of the State may be entitled shall be
awarded [one] two each by each member of the House of Delegates
for the respective district.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.
