and except the substitute magistrate appointed for Cecil County, who
shall receive $300.00 per year in addition to the compensation re-
ceived when actually sitting as a substitute, as hereinafter provided.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby de-
clared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety and having been passed
by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two houses of the General Assembly, the same
shall take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 3 (x)
, 3 (Y) and 5 (g) of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1964 Supplement), title "Elections", sub-title "Supervisors
of Elections and Employees", amending the laws concerning the
compensation of members of the Board of Supervisors of Elections
of Wicomico County, AND OF WORCESTER COUNTY and also
concerning the salaries of the several employees of this Board* IN
WICOMICO COUNTY.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 3 (x) , 3 (Y) and 5 (g) of Article 33 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1964 Supplement), title "Elections", sub-
title "Supervisors of Elections and Employees", be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

(x) Wicomico County: [$700.] $800. for each member of the
Board, plus an additional sum of $200. for the Chairman of the
Board.
(Y) WORCESTER COUNTY: $800. FOR EACH MEMBER OF
THE BOARD, PLUS AN ADDITIONAL SUM OF $200. FOR THE
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD.

(g) In Wicomico County the clerk of the Board of Supervisors
of Elections provided for in this article shall receive an annual
salary of [$700.00] $800.00. There also shall be a position of assists
ant clerk to the Board in Wicomico County with an annual salary
of [$400.00] $500.00. The Supervisors of Elections shall have the
power to employ an attorney, who shall be a member of the bar of
Wicomico County and who shall also be the attorney for the judges
of elections, and such attorney shall receive an annual salary of
[$700] $800; the salaries of said clerks and said attorney to be paid
in equal quarterly installments by the County Commissioners of
Wicomico County; provided, however, that in the event of special
