CHAPTER 589
(Senate Bill 559)

AN ACT to add new Section 122B to Article 25 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1964 Supplement), title
"County Commissioners", sub-title "Junk Yards", to follow imme-
diately after Section 122A thereof, to require screening or fencing
of junk yards, dumps, motor vehicle junk yards, or refuse or trash
disposal lots within a specified distance of roads and highways in
Charles County, to provide penalties for violations, and to make
these requirements supplementary to zoning or other regulatory
powers available to the county.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 122B be and it is hereby added to Article 25 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1964 Supple-
ment), title "County Commissioners", sub-title "Junk Yards", to
follow immediately after Section 122A thereof, and to read as
follows:

122B.

(a) In Charles County, any person, firm or corporation who shall
keep, maintain or operate in the county any junk yard, dump, auto-
mobile junk yard, outdoor place where old motor vehicles are stored
or dismantled, or lot on which refuse, trash or junk is deposited
within two hundred (200) feet of any interstate, State or county
highway or road shall screen or fence said premises in such manner
that they are not visible from any such road or highway.

(b) Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate the provi-
sions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon convic-
tion, is fined not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) or
imprisoned for not more than thirty (30) days, or both fined and
imprisoned.

(c) The provisions of this section are deemed supplementary to
the authority of the county to regulate the premises herein men-
tioned by zoning or by the provisions of Section 122A of this sub-
title or otherwise.

Sec 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts of laws,
public general or public local, inconsistent with the provisions of this
Act are hereby repealed to the extent of any such inconsistency.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, the sub-section
numbered (16½) of Section 9 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code
