The citizens of Harford County wish to recognize the beauty and
the attractiveness of the flowering dogwood tree by making it the
official tree of the county. Also this formal recognition of the flower-
ing dogwood tree should encourage the citizens of Harford County
to plant many more of this lovely and attractive tree; now therefore,

Section 1. Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 216A be and it is hereby added to the Code of
Public Local Laws of Harford County (1957 Edition, being Article
13 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Harford
County", sub-title "County Commissioners", to follow immediately
after Section 216 thereof, to be under the new sub-heading "County
Tree", and to read as follows:

County Tree

216A. The flowering dogwood (Cornus florida) is the official
tree of Harford County.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1965.

Approved April 8, 1965.

CHAPTER 466
(Senate Bill 204)

AN ACT to repeal Section 217 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Harford County (1957 Edition, being Article 13 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Harford County", sub-title
"County Commissioners", as said section was enacted by Chapter
155 of the Acts of 1959; and to add a new Section 216B to said
Article and sub-title, to follow immediately after Section 216A
thereof as said section was enacted by Chapter 540 of the Acts of
1963, repealing the law which established the Harford County
Beautification Committee, abolishing this Committee, adding to
the duties of the Board of Parks and Recreation those functions
formerly imposed upon the Beautification Committee and relating
generally to the powers of the Harford County Board of Parks and
Recreation and of the Board of County Commissioners of Harford
County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 217 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Harford
County (1957 Edition, being Article 13 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Harford County", sub-title "County Com-
missioners", as said section was enacted by Chapter 155 of the Acts
of 1959, be and it is hereby repealed; that new Section 216B be and
it is hereby added to said Article and sub-title to follow immediately
after Section 216A thereof, as said section was enacted by Chapter
540 of the Acts of 1963, and to read as follows:

216B.

(a) The Chairman of the Board of Parks and Recreation with the
approval of a majority of the members of the Board may annually
