650                               LAWS OF MARYLAND                       [CH. 458

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 51 (d) of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1964 Supplement), title "County Commissioners," subtitle "County
Treasurers," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

51.

(d) The county treasurer of St. Mary's County shall receive an
annual salary of [$3,600.00] $6,000.00 $5,000.00. The clerk to the
county treasurer shall receive [the sum of $2,400.00 annually] an
annual salary to be fixed by the County Commissioners.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall not affect the
salary of the County Treasurer during the term of office existing on
the effective date of this Act.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That subject to the provisions
of Section 2, this Act shall take effect June 1, 1965.

CHAPTER 458
(House Bill 1168)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 12-15
(a) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County
(1963 Edition) being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, title "Prince George's County," subtitle "Court
Officers," providing for an increase in the salary of law clerks.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 12-15 (a) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1963 Edition), being Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County,"
subtitle "Court Officers" be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

12-15. Court Officers.

(a) Appointment; compensation. In Prince George's County the
court officers appointed pursuant to Article 4, Section 9 of the Con-
stitution of Maryland, shall be law clerks, bailiffs, court criers, and
doorkeepers. The law clerks shall receive an annual compensation
of [thirty-six hundred ($3,600)] NOT IN EXCESS OF five thousand
($5,000)
dollars each. The bailiffs shall receive a monthly compensa-
tion of two hundred fifty ($250.00) dollars each. Each court crier shall
receive fifteen ($15.00) dollars per diem for each day's attendance and
each doorkeeper shall receive ten ($10.00) dollars per diem for each
day in attendance. Said compensation shall be paid by the clerk of said
court as part of the expenses of his office, as is provided by law
regarding salaries paid to personnel of the clerk's office, provided,
however, should for any reason there not be sufficient funds from
